As the school year comes to a close, ED100 is receiving a steady stream of applications for the Ed100 Academy for Student Leaders, which will be held online June 20-22. It\u2019s free, and open to students 13 and up as well as to faculty members who work with student leaders. Getting the word out is still really hard, and their team of Outreach Ambassadors needs your help. Please make sure your schools aren\u2019t missing out! Check the list<\/a>.

The theme of the conference is Students and Civic Engagement<\/em>. Students will earn a certificate for participating and also learn how to earn the new California Seal of Civic Engagement for their diploma (and college applications). In afternoon breakout sessions, students will meet peers from schools all over the state and develop their own plans to make a difference in their community and beyond.

There will be plenty of opportunities for inspiration, with more than 30 inspiring and informative speakers<\/a> including California Governor Gavin Newsom<\/strong>, Sal Khan<\/strong>, and a lineup of students who will tell their own story of how they made a difference. Alvin Lee<\/strong>, the student founder of GENup, will host the event. He will ask Naomi Porter<\/strong>, the incoming student member of the State Board of Education, to talk about how to apply for her job. The list goes on. “I can\u2019t believe how hard it has been to get the word out to students,” said Kavya Suresh, one of the 20 students on the team of Outreach Ambassadors for the Ed100 Academy for Student Leaders. “I attended this conference last summer, and the opportunities I learned about changed my life. This year\u2019s program will be even better!”
