Every Unit PTA Should Have Had Their Election of Officers!
If your unit has not done so, you must schedule an Association Meeting in order for your members to elect the officers for the program year 2013-2014. Â Â Your PTA unit must elect officers as outlined by your bylaws. The State of California requires each 501(c)(3) organization to have a minimum of three officers: Â President, Secretary and Treasurer, in order to comply with the letters of incorporation.
Once your officers have been elected, a Roster of Offices and Chairmen must be completed and turned in. Â To complete the form online, click on the link.
If you need assistance, please contact the Highlands Council as soon as possible.

Start Your Membership Campaign Now by Ted Henderson, Vice President for Membership.
Units should start planning now to get going at the start of next year. At a minimum, find out what was done at your unit last year. In addition, units must collect the dues amount as stipulated on the bylaws.  Also plan ahead if you want to send something out in the summer mailing. It is more economical if your school allows PTA materials to be included with their own mailing.  Otherwise, make sure that a line item budget is included for postage. For questions, please contact Ted Henderson at membership@highlandscouncilpta.org, or go to highlandscouncilpta.org for more ideas and suggestions.

Transition of Officers
The smooth transition of outgoing and incoming board members and officers is of vital importance and can determine your PTA’s leadership success for years to come. The transition process is the responsibility of both incoming and outgoing officers and board members. It gives closure to those leaving their positions and allows those coming in to be properly prepared.
A good process of transition provides an opportunity for outgoing members to evaluate their work and efforts while giving suggestions to new board members on what they wish they had done differently.
