Federal and new state laws require that all non-profit organizations, including PTA/PTSA units must file tax returns. Â It is very important that each PTA/PTSA unit must adhere to and meet tax filing deadlines both for federal and California state. Â In addition, the California State Attorney General is requiring that all PTA/PTSA units apply for a charitable trust number with the Registry of Charitable Trusts, and must file RRF-1 form annually by 2012.
